The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was the leader
of the world renowned Lubavitch Chassidut. Born in 1902 to Rebbetzin
Chana Schneerson and the Kabbalist Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, chief
Rabbi of Dnieperpetrovsk in the Ukraine, he would soon grow to be one of
the Jewish world's most famous personalities. Rabbi Menachem
Mendel Schneerson was the seventh leader of Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty and
he built upon and expanded his predecessor's work of spreading the
Jewish way of life to Jews across the globe. Until today many Chabad
Chassidim can be found volunteering in some of the world's most remote
corners. There they bring acts of chesed (not to mention kosher food) to
distant wayfarers.
Known to many simply as "the Rebbe", Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson
passed away in 1994.
