"Like David and Yonatan." That's how Hacham Ovadia shlita described his
relationship with the beloved departed leader of the Syrian Sephardic
Community, Hacham Baruch Ben-Haim zt"l.
Both Hacham Ovadia and Hacham Baruch grew up under the careful watch of
the famed Gaon, Hacham Ezra Attiye, Rosh Yeshivat Porat Yosef. The best
of friends from adolescents, they built a warm friendship based on
Torah. They went their separate ways, when Hacham Baruch was summoned to
America to help lead the growing Syrian community in N.Y. Despite the
physical distance between them, their friendship remained strong
throughout the years.
This beautiful rendition captures the two childhood friends, sharing a
light moment during one of Hacham Ovadia's visits to Cong Shaare Tzion
(Brooklyn, NY).
